Fuel
Tambo – Diesel and ULP fuel are available at the Caltex Roadhouse at the southern end of town. Top up before heading further along the Barcoo Way.
Windorah – The Windorah Service Station is your one stop shop for all your road trip needs. Offering tyre repairs/replacements as well as new batteries and fuel. You can also refuel your body with the grocery lines and café. – ph: 46 563143
Isisford – Diesel and petrol are available The Fuel Depot. Open 24 hrs – Credit Card Facilities.
Blackall – Fuel services are available from the BP Service Station, Caltex Service Station and Blackall Motel on Shamrock Street.
Yaraka – Fuel services are available at the Yaraka Store as well as gas bottle refills.
Public Toilets
Tambo – Public toilets are located at EE Parr Park, Mitchell Street, Tambo & Tambo Caltex Truckstop. Don’t leave town without grabbing a souvenir roll of Tambo Toilet paper from any local business.
Blackall – You’ll find public toilets in the town’s parks including Banks Park & Memorial Park. There’s also facilities in the middle of town in Short Street and across from the river camp in Garden Street.
Isisford – Public toilets are located at Isisford Park, St Helena Street, Isisford.
Windorah – Public toilets are located at Windorah Caravan Park in Victoria Street, Coopers Creek Camp Ground on Quilpie Road & the Visitor Information Centre.
Yaraka – Public toilets can be found behind the Town Hall.
Phone service
As you drive the Barcoo Way you’ll be pleased to know that the Telstra Next G coverage is available in Tambo, Blackall, Isisford, Yaraka & Windorah. Coverage usually starts within a 20km radius of each town.
There is also free public WIFI in Blackall and Tambo. Just connect to Blackall Public Wifi or Tambo Public Wifi and no password is required.
Ice
Tambo – Needing to keep your drinks cold? You can grab a bag of ice from Tambo’s local pubs, Tambo Foodworks or the Caltex Roadhouse.
Isisford – Restock on ice from Ando’s Food Mart and Golden West Hotel
Yaraka – Bags of ice are available from the Yaraka Store.
Fishing Bait
Windorah – The Outback Shop and the Windorah Service station both stock frozen fish bait (shrimps) so you don’t miss out on dropping a line in at Cooper’s Creek. Fish that can be caught in the area are yellow belly, catfish, bream and of course yabbies are in abundance.
Isisford – If you are looking to buy some fishing gear, head to Ando’s Food Mart.
Fresh Water
Windorah – Fresh water to fill up your tanks is available at the dump point on the eastern entry to Windorah. Fill up with water before heading off further on your adventures.
Tambo – The western sports complex at the western end of town and Tambo dam are fully set up with multiple water points. The van parks also cater for this.
Yaraka – Access fresh water in the van park as well as behind the town hall.
Blackall – Multiple town water access points can be found across the Barcoo River camping area. The van park also have numerous water points.
Isisford – Fresh water to fill up your tanks is available at the dump point on St Francis Street.
Souvenirs
Windorah – One little Windorah secret is the home made jams and preserves available in town. These are found at the Outback Shop or the Visitor Information Centre. Freshly made chutneys, sauces, relishes, jams, and pickles are delicious and made locally.
Blackall – Take home some locally crafted leather gifts from the Lost Art Centre on Shamrock Street.
Isisford – Isisford Arts, Crafts & Photography offers a full Range of Great Gift Ideas. Items include various size framed & canvas prints plus souvenir mug’s.
Community
Windorah – If you need fresh eggs, the children from the Windorah State School, who raise chickens as part of their studies, sell their fresh eggs through the Visitor Information Centre, these sell quickly, but call in and see if there are any available.
Blackall – Each Thursday afternoon at approximately 3pm there is a social 6 hole golf event. Raffles and nearest the pin for attending golfers and their friends. A casual event for those keen to try the sand green golfing experience. Enjoy a game of tennis for a gold coin donation at the Tennis Club on Shamrock Street.
Tambo – Another fun activity held in town is the hilarious Chicken Racing. The race consists of four laps around the track with the chickens chasing a remote control car, which has worms in it.
Isisford – Join community members at the 18 hole course. Open daily. If unattended please phone 0427 588 174. Green fees $10 for non members.
